Control power to AC appliances remotely! Schedule power cycles! Automatically send downlink commands to LoRaWAN devices based on sensor inputs!

There is no limit to what can be done with automation over LoRaWAN through Telemetry2U’s IoT Platform

Control, Measure, and Automate AC Power over LoRaWAN

Controlling power to AC devices is something we all do every day. It’s just a matter of flicking the switch. But what happens when that switch isn’t easily accessible? You could be on the way home when you decide that you want to fire up that good old electric blanket, or you might be in bed when you remember the irrigation pump is still running, wasting water.

There are plenty of devices already on the market that allow you to remotely control AC power, but Telemetry2U offers a more elegant solution over a private LoRaWAN network (or a public networks such as Helium or TTN) that brings a host of other advantages, such as power scheduling, metering, and even automation.

The Perfect IoT Solution with LoRaWAN

Telemetry2U’s recent integration with Milesight’s range of LoRaWAN IoT devices has enabled a whole new range of IoT applications and controlling, metering, scheduling, and the automation AC power and appliances is amongst them. The Milesight WS523 LoRaWAN Smart Portable Socket plugs in-line with any 10A AC appliance. When used in conjunction with Telemetry2U’s IoT Platform, you’re able to toggle power using a real-time dashboard button - accessible from a smartphone or PC. The Milesight WS52x LoRaWAN Smart Portable Socket Socket runs in Class-C mode meaning it’s always online listening for your commands.

As well as controlling the power to your AC appliances over the IoT, you can also measure the real-time voltage, current, power, accumulative power, and the power factor. Again, this real-time data is made accessible on dashboards, charts, and tables on Telemetry2U’s IoT Platform. Sensor values can be used to trigger alerts that can be sent via Email, SMS or even by voice. This can be handy if you ever need to know if the power has been turned off, or if an appliance fails and the power consumption drops or rises above a threshold.

With T2U’s IoT platform, you can easily create power schedules with configurable time filters. Turn things on and off at any time on any day of the week. Again, you can do all this remotely from your smart phone, there is no need to physically connect to the Milesight WS52x LoRaWAN Socket once the integration has been made with Telemetry2U.

It gets even better! Use actions on T2U to provide a smart level of automation. Actions allow you to trigger downlink commands to any LoRaWAN device based on another device’s sensor value. For example, you may want to control the power to a light depending on a room’s occupancy status (measured by a Milesight WS202 LoRaWAN PIR for example), or automatically turn a pump on if your soil moisture level drops too low. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination and can be implemented by anyone.
