Every living being on Earth relies on water for survival, so knowing how much water you have in storage is hugely important. Water storge tanks, ponds, dams, and even small drinking troths are used to supply livestock with water in remote locations and can be tricky to manage for farmers. You need to top up before they’re empty but topping up to soon is just a waste of time and resources. It’s also hard to guess what effect any rain has had on your levels with out physically checking.

Knowing your water tank, pond or dam levels can be just as important in bush-fire prone areas. The last thing you want to worry about when defending your property from a bush fire is if you have enough water. Knowing your water levels helps you manage your supply wisely and more importantly, lets you know when you’re running out - If you don’t at least have enough water, there’s no point risking your life trying to defend your property.

In normal household situations, running out of water can be just plain frustrating, especially if you need to rely on a delivery to resupply. It’s hard to know if there’s been enough rain to top up, so bruised knuckles from knocking on storage tanks are common.
